Under the patronage of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Young Innovators Competition is being held again this year, with the new topic – entrepreneurship.
The competition seeks young entrepreneurs who use innovative solutions based on ICT tools aimed at enhancing the entrepreneurship in local communities worldwide. Technological incubators, skill building, mentorship, sharing resources, cooperation between small enterprises are some of the entrepreneurship fields covered with the competition.
The competition focuses on several topics which act as support to entrepreneurship: providing access to resources, education, idea incubators, start-up capital, investment, support to new start-ups, connection between start-ups, connecting with potential workforce, mentors and experts.
Considering the fact that the social groups who are underrepresented in the world of technology are, to a large extent, the same groups that suffer the most due to the economic crisis and unemployment, particular attention is paid to the ideas and solutions that connect the young, women, minorities, rural communities, through the use of the technological tools in aforementioned fields.
Participants of the competition must be between the age of 18 and 30. The participants apply with the existing start-up or with the idea for a solution. The authors of the two best solutions will be invited to the central event – ITU Telecom World 2015, which is being held in Budapest this year, from October 12 to October 15. Along with the funds and a year of mentorship, the prize also includes the opportunity to present the ideas at the central event and participate at the workshops.
Deadline is May 7 2015, 12:00.
