National CIRT of Montenegro acquired full membership in FIRST

The Administrative Committee of the FIRST (Forum of Incident Response Security Teams) has issued a positive decision on accession of the CIRT.ME, on the basis of the report on conformity of the existing infrastructure and organization of the CIRT.ME with FIRST standards, which was issued after Slovenian and Croatian CIRT representatives visited Montenegro.

In the coming days this information is expected to be published on the FIRST website and the Montenegrin team is to enter their CERT/CIRT/CSIRT teams database.

The membership in FIRST is a confirmation that Montenegro is determinant to be actively engaged, according to its capacities, in creating and guaranteeing cyber security which is one of the priorities in global community in the present.

FIRST represents a forum which gathers more than 200 teams for incident response from all over the world. National CIRT of Montenegro will from now on have better foundation for more efficient cooperation with other regional and international CIRT teams in case of over border computer incidents.

At the same time, through cooperation and coordination regarding prevention, adequate and timely response to cyber threats, and exchange of the information between FIRST members, CIRT.ME will, among other things, be recognized as a strategic partner in common, international project – proactive approach to protection from safety risks and incidents.

There is intention to continue with strengthening internal capacities and widening the cooperation network of the CIRT.ME with other regionally and internationally recognized partners in order to contribute to further progress in the area of particular national significance.
