Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Information Society and Telecommunications, mr Vujica Lazović, PhD, hosted the representatives of the Slovenian and Croatian CERT – mr Goražd Božič, manager of SI-CERT Slovenia and mr Darko Perhoč, assistant director of the National CERT Croatia.

The subject of the conversation was National CIRT of Montenegro, as well as the membership in the international organizations that regulate cyber security, and particular attention was paid to further activities in the process of becoming the member of FIRST (Forum of Incident Response and Security Teams).

In order to provide the best conditions for the National CIRT to perfrom its tasks, the membership in international organizations is of high importance. It is planned for the National CIRT to join several international organizations: ENISA (European Network and Information Security Agency), FIRST (Forum of Incident Response and Security Teams) and TRUSTED Introducer.

Procedure for membership in FIRST has already been initiated, and as a part of this process it was necessary to reach a sponsorship agreement with the two current members of FIRST. Slovenia and Croatia, which have established their CERT programs 15 years ago, have been recognized to have reached the highest level of development regarding cyber security, considering the nearby countries. The Ministry and the representatives of the national teams of Slovenia (SI-CERT) and Croatia (CarNet – CERT) have agreed upon future cooperation.

During their stay, Slovenian and Croatian CERT representatives have visited the capacities of the National CIRT of Montenegro, to make sure that everything has been realized according to the standards requested by FIRST. After this visit, the report sent to the board of directors is the key element upon which the decision of accepting the membership application is made.

Furthermore, the results of this visit will enable enlisting the National CIRT of Montenegro in the register of the European agency ENISA.
